There’s a very big difference between “It’s a beautiful place to go swimming” and “It’s a beautiful place to go swimming (except for the sharks)”.
On the 17th of a month I walked down a hospital hallway to a door with a butterfly on it. Many things ended at that door; other things began. Every month since then, I’ve noticed when it’s the 17th.
A few weeks ago, my five-year-old and I tried something he now calls “going out for a drive.” Granted, this turn of phrase is already taken, but since he won’t be able to borrow the car for about a decade, I’m okay with the potential ambiguity.
